Day 33 - Great Barrier Reef

Today was very possibly the best day so far. We went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef!

We boarded Seaflight, again, early morning, and it took us to our first stop, Daydream Island.
Passengers were boarding the boat here, but it was difficult because the pier the boat USED to stop at was now out of use, due to the damage that had been done to it when the cyclone hit. So, Daydream Island had to send out a ferry and passengers had to transfer between boats in the middle of the sea! Pretty funny to watch.

Afterwards, they warned us all many times that we would be entering rough waters for about 45 minutes, and that if we are prone to being seasick, we should contact the crew who can provide drugs to prevent seasickness. I've never been seasick so I was all good!

It took about 2 hours to get to the Outer Great Barrier Reef. At least 5 people ended up being sick. People just don't listen! Haha, it was pretty funny. The sea was really rough like they said.

Anyway, we had arrived. A little pontoon sat in the middle of the sea, called the Knuckle Reef Lagoon Pontoon. Essentially 2 decks, top deck with sunloungers and a massage room, bottom deck with equipment (wetsuits, snorkels, etc).
And, of course, stairs leading straight into the beautiful 26 degrees celcius, 8 meter visibility water.
Aside from lunch, we didn't leave the sea at all. It really was spectacular and the picutres don't do it justice.

And then yup, you guessed it, more beautiful views at sunset on the way back.
