Day 31 - Camira Sailing: Whitehaven Beach & The Whitsundays

6:30AM start today. Made me feel like I was back at college!
We hopped on the bus that took us to the marina for the first day of a three day tour of the Whitsunday Islands. We had a really action packed day today.

We got to the marina and checked in, and were presented with our ride for the day. A giant purple yacht called Camira, previously called Tsunami, which was changed when the tsunami hit years ago.

As we set out, it was quite cloudy, but luckily that cleared up later. It looks really small but it was quite spacious, having dining areas and decks to sit on.

Our first stop was... In the middle of the sea! Yup, they set down anchor and told us we'd be snorkelling! They took us out, gave us a snorkel and a mask and that was that!
The water was so beautiful and clear, despite the visibility being quite low due to it being a full moon, i.e. extremely high tides.

The islands really remind me of LOST!
Afterwards we went to the world famous Whitehaven Beach. Absolutely gorgeous. 98% pure silica sand, so clean and natural.

After Whitehaven Beach we started heading back to the mainland, and got some lovely sunset pictures, and even a rainbow to finish the day off perfectly!

We're off to Long Island tomorrow, another one of the Whitsundays so there'll be more of this! Then the day after a snorkelling cruise. Really excited!
